I’m working on a new photo series that involves my pretty friends and laser cut paper crowns. This is the first.
This laser cut and hand painted piece was a custom order from a friend who wanted a piece of art based on the Tom Waits song “Fish and Bird”. I painted a large piece of plywood with several coats of deep blue, which I watered down so the wood grain would show through. The tears in the heart are painted with silver Pearl-Ex, which I also used for the feathers on the bird.
Progress on my tiny doodles paper.
Recent adventures in laser cutting.

More lettering/typography practice. I love ampersands!
G is for green and growing things.
I’ve been playing with some typography/hand lettering lately. For this piece I drew the g in pencil on the board and filled it in with plants from outside my studio.

My art teacher mother gave me a stash of giant paper (35x23) and I’ve decided to take my tiny doodles concept and move it on to a bigger surface. Every morning I set a timer for 20 minutes and doodle. I’m going to do a different pattern and color every day.
Part of an ongoing series tentatively called “Stuff on My Desk”. I have quite a few oddities around my studio.
