I took my first encaustic class over the weekend. In 9 hours with the tools and supplies I made more than a dozen pieces. It was quite a challenge for me because I tend to work with a very clear vision of the end product and encaustic is not a very controllable medium. There are a few pieces I was pretty pleased with and I really enjoyed the process once I let myself experiment. I’ll post clearer pictures of my finished work later.

Progress on the daily doodle. I’ve been out of town since Friday so I haven’t done any doodles for the last few days.
Recent laser adventures! A lot of these were custom work, but some of it will be on Etsy soon.

I’m working on a new photo series that involves my pretty friends and laser cut paper crowns. This is the first.
This laser cut and hand painted piece was a custom order from a friend who wanted a piece of art based on the Tom Waits song “Fish and Bird”. I painted a large piece of plywood with several coats of deep blue, which I watered down so the wood grain would show through. The tears in the heart are painted with silver Pearl-Ex, which I also used for the feathers on the bird.
Progress on my tiny doodles paper.
